Hey everyone — posting on behalf of a longtime family friend. Her dad has reached a point where he can no longer care for his bird, and she’s trying to find the right home for him.
He’s a Crimson Rosella, around 4–5 years old, and super sweet. Located just outside Orlando on the northwest side.
His name is Red and he comes with a main cage and a backup one. She is asking a pretty solid rehoming fee — mostly to keep away flippers and hoarders, hopefully.
Not an option for me personally, but really hoping someone here might be the right fit!
We’re trying to get her to join the forum so that I can step out of the middle, but for now, I’m helping spread the word

Hey y’all just wanted to update you, Red now has a home! They just brought him to the Seminole County parrot rescue and sanctuary.

Maybe this kind of new home for a parrot is a good thing. If they're put into an aviary and have other birds to play with they may be even happier than in a human's home.

I've heard of birds becoming depressed after an owner re-homed them or took them to a shelter/sanctuary. Starving, plucking feathers, etc. But about Rosellas in particular, I saw one video by Donna at "Love of Pets" on YouTube. She said that they need a lot of flying-around time or time in an aviary...hers is almost never in the cage...and they are not very interested in their owners. She honestly doesn't recommend them. Of course, this was just one video. Other people probably have different experiences. I would be interested to hear any comments/different opinions.
