Crushed and terrified, Scout is gone

So very sorry to hear this, I really hope no one did anything to your poor birdie :( Can other people access your yard? Can they catch diseases from other birds who might land on their cage? I'm relatively new here so I don't know all these things yet.

People could get into my yard and the birds could technically catch things from other birds, but the vet said that disease or toxin would have shown changes in his organs, and they were all lovely organs with no damage.

Gosh Dani, I wonder what it could've been? The necropsy was done that quickly? That's good. Still, I'm so very sorry for the pain you're feeling :(. I won't ask any more questions, just take care of yourself...

It's one of those things where we will most likely never know. In a way it is horrible, but in another way it is comforting because the vet says it was nothing I did, and it is almost certainly not disease (doing a blood panel on his cage mate today just in case). Once I learned of his death, those two things were my biggest fears and guilt wracked me and I was terrified for the rest of my flock. Having those two cleared up has relieved the guilt and calmed me about the safety of my other birds, so I have much more peace in my sadness. Thank you all for your support.

Virtual hugs to you in the hopes that you're ok in time. Take care of yourself :(

I'd heard (don't know how accurate it is) that birds can just suddenly drop dead, their hearts can just stop, just like that.

I am so sorry for your loss :(! It breaks my heart, especially because your beautiful babies look so similar to my Shiko. I'm glad that you can take comfort in knowing it wasn't your fault (not that any of us ever think it would be!). We'll be thinking of you and sending you lots of love and hugs.

Dear Silver Sage, I am so sorry for your loss. Will pray for you. Bonita
