I've read parakeets are very smart, which makes me wonder after what happened last evening just how very smart they are. I'm partially disabled and have a caregiver who comes 3 times a week to help out with house cleaning, etc, and she's here when I shower to be available should I slip and fall. Well I felt pretty good Sunday evening so I decided to shower even though the caregiver was not here. While showering I heard Oliver give two very loud chirps, loudest ever. It would be interesting to know if he was upset because I was doing what I was doing alone.

Sometimes I wonder if I watch over him or he me.

Not out of the question. They're smart and they're also creatures of routine. If you did something outside of routine, that could certainly garner some attention!

That’s amazing that he picked up on that. Such a smart little guy!

I just hope he's not so smart he gets like my kitten, who was more like a dog than cat when it came to begging for food. I fed her plenty of kitten food, but she also ate chicken nuggets, ghoulash, ham sandwiches, cereal, cookies, and loved cheese. None of it made her sick and she was healthy. I chose to rehome her though and get a bird.
