I was getting tired of all the seed on the floor around the java tree. So I decided to build a seed skirt using the principles of installing cove molding. Typical cove molding has a skirt angle of 38 & 52 degrees. I wanted 45 degree takeoff from the base. That meant I needed a 35.25 bevel & 30 degree miter for the corners to line up.

If you are familiar with installing cove molding you should be able to build something similar to this.

What a great idea
You did a wonderful job, well done !!!!!!
Unfortunately the maths part is too complicated for me Lol
I would certainly have to purchase one

It turned out lovely! My math leaves me for something like that as well, although my boyfriend could probably figure it out for me! Great job!

looks great, may have to make one myself!

Its been a week or so since I put the skirt on...
OMG what a difference it makes 99% less stuff on the floor!
So glad I added it. You would think they would sell java trees with some kind of catcher.
But then again they are already insanely expensive for what they are (dead coffee tree) without a seed catcher.

Great job. For the very same reason, I had my husband make the original floor/base larger and install lineoleum for easier cleanup.
