Sun conure
Hi,
I have a sun conure that is 5 months old. He has a parent that is red factor and Iā€™m trying to figure out if he is a red factor too. Heā€™s my first sun conure and heā€™s very sweet and loves to cuddle. Here are some pictures of him when he was younger and a more recent picture. Please let me know what you think. Thank you!

Thank you! Heā€™s very sweet and funny. He will dive bomb my cats so they are scared of him. He just lands on my house goat though. I think he knows she eats hay and not birds šŸ˜‚

He is definitely beautiful and looks like a sweetie:)
Please be careful with your baby around the other animals. They are quite fragile and I'd be worried that your goat could get startled and step on him. With the cats, their saliva can be fatal to birds.

My goat is very lazy and moves slowly. Shes either eating or laying down and cuddling. Sheā€™s used to him climbing on her and flying around. I donā€™t leave him alone with any pets just to be safe. Heā€™s usually on my shoulder or under my chin. šŸ˜

Hereā€™s a picture of him that I just took. He was moving so it was kind of hard to get a good picture šŸ˜… he does seem more orange red than pictures of other sun conures that I have looked up but I'm not sure. I'm new to birds.

Sunny the Sun Conure (sept '18, gotcha 3/'19). Mr Jefferson Budgie & Mrs Calliope Budgie (albino) (nov'18 & jan'19). Summer 2021 Baby Budgies: Riker (Green); Patchouli, Keye, & Tiny (blue greywings).
I don't know for sure, not any kind of expert, but my guess would be that yours probably is red-factor.

Do you know if thereā€™s any way to tell for sure if heā€™s a red factor or not?

he looks red factor to me. usually with suns the red is most concentrated around their eyes kind of like a mask. He seeks to have a lot of red on his belly too. he still has a lot of his baby green though

Do sun conures usually have yellow bellies? I donā€™t think he has molted yet. He hatched on May 25th. I think he may lose his green feathers soon.

Hey! Our boys are 2 weeks apart! Has yours melted yet? I'm trying to figure out if mine is getting ready to go through THE CHANGE

Autocowreck makes me burst out laughing whenever i read it
Lol I wish it was my original. There used to be a site called autocowrecks and it was posts of text messages where there were VERY different meanings based on what auto correct thought you meant šŸ˜‚ šŸ˜°
