Hey all, a question, if anyone knows.

I just dyed a bunch of wood beads with food dye and rubbing alcohol. They are 'marinating' right now. My question is, what do I need to do with them when I pull them out of the color?
Do I need to rinse them?
Bake them in the oven?
Leave them in the sun?
Anyone know?

Good question! I will be watching to see as well:)

i don´t rinse them ,what is the point if you rinse all the color away?
But i would like to know,i just dyed and baked 150 clothpins.
I bake them in the oven.

no you do not have to rinse or bake, just let them dry thoroughly~

I also bake them in the oven at 100 celcius for about 15 minutes and then I turn the oven off and let them cool in there. I'm sure just leaving them to dry would be fine too but I'm too impatient :)

I don't rinse them at all. I start with cleanly washed and dried wood so I don't see the point.

Thanks everybirdie!!!

You use rubbing alcohol with the dye, to make it set better. As it dries, the alcohol evaporates, and the dye is left behind in the wood. I just need to make sure it's fully dried and safe to give them.

Are you saying you mix alcohol in with the food coloring? If so how much? I color all the time with food coloring but never heard of putting that in there.

I used approximately 15 parts alcohol to one part dye. (the food color bottles are .25 oz. and I used a 1oz. shot glass to measure the alcohol....but not exactly, once I did it once, I just eyeballed it)

You can look it up on the Internet, that's howbi found out.
