Parrots
Orange-Winged Amazon ~ Marley
Ok so this post might sound so stupid people may think i shouldn't have a parrot but hey I've never owned a zon before and I've heard they are greedy lil B's..

back when i had a grey i used to keep his bowl filled with fresh fruit/veg constant and he would help himself as and when.. I've done the same for Marley the past 4 days and he is such a greedy lil zon he finishes the whole bowl in 1 hit LOL!

this pic is the fruit bowl i give him when i got in from work today it was mango/apple/banana/orange with "harrisons high potency pellets" crushed up and mixed in (he hates pellets whole) i ran out of veg today so this evening he had only seed/fruit but usually it would be fruit/veg 50/50 with some seed mix in a bowl that he snacks on late evening when watching Sons Of Anarchy :D

i usually feed him this amount of fruit/veg in morning and afternoon..

is this too much food?
should i manage how much he eats fresh food wise?

sorry for the stupid questions i just don't want Marley getting fat or sick.

I "measure" Zilla's food and monitor how much she eats. She gets fresh veggies, fruits, pasta, rice, beans (pasta, rice & beans are all cooked) and a small amount of seed mix, nuts and treats daily.

If you search the diet and nutrition section you will get a lot of "yummy" chop recipes that can be made, portioned out and then frozen. I just add a few fresh things to her portion of chop twice a day.

But how do you know when they have had enough or had too much? will them getting fat show easily enough to know when to cut the diet down etc.. like a dog lol

weigh them on a gram scale.

If they maintain weight, you're golden.

If they gain weight scale back on the high carb stuff.

If they lose weight, add more high carb stuff.
