Sorry for the bluntness! Have you ever taken your conure in the bathroom with you when you reeaaalllly had to go? With how their respiratory system works and how sensitive they could be, do you think it is safe for them to be exposed to your err smells?

I work all day so when I get home, I like to take my time and do my thing in peace. Boomer, having been alone with the budgies all day obviously wants his kisses and sweet talk ASAP! I also think that the time I spend in there could be put to good use by bonding with Boomer.

Haha, I know 'WEIRD!' I did it for the very first time today. I just had to. I left the door and window open. He seemed fine but you can never tell. What do you think? Safe or no?

I do not. Not because of fumes, but because I don't want him taking off and landing in the toilet bowl in the time between standing and sitting. And if you're a guy, then the opportunity will be a little longer for him to get interested in what's going on down there. Yuck yuck yuck yuck.

I don't interact with my birds the moment I come in. They get really excited, but I don't want to start them becoming used to getting out the moment I get home. Too many situations where that could lead to the birds screaming while I put groceries away, etc.

Sometimes if I'm busting to pee, I can't get Audrey off me in time, so she sits on my shoulder while I do that LOL! Interesting question though!

I take chichi to pee with me! Lol but I'm a girl so I sit. Usually he hops onto the tp roll and tears it up. Lol

Thanks for all the responses! Just to be super clear, while I do take him in with me when I pee, I'm not talking about peeing! Haha, I'm talking serious business here. He is calm all the time he is there with me so I'm not worried about him taking a dive in the toilet (ew).

Its more, will the fumes be harmful to him? This is a weird topic that I've been begging to ask :D

I do business, too. It don't bother him. He tramps around on the floor and sink...he enjoys our "time" together! Lol

Nah, the smell isn't inherently harmful. Unless we are talking bleach from those tank tabs, anyway. Some people worry about the small amount if bacteria that get loose and spread around the bathroom, but studies show your kitchen is almost certainly a much riskier place!

Lucy hangs out with me whenever I'm home, and if I try to go without her, she will scream at me. I've even left her on the couch and she will fly to the floor then do her little sprint to the bathroom.

LOL! I now feel we all have license to ask any question on this forum! Just like good friends!

HeHe this is interesting. I dont start off with Scatlet in there but eventually she waddles in on her on. She has had no problems that I have noticed

LOL, I was wondering just yesterday if I was the only person who took their Fid into the bathroom with them! Sometimes, I can't get Sugar off of me and I'm not really inclined to force her or fight with her because it isn't that important (when it is, trust me, I can get her off!), and just took her with me. She just seemed happy to be with me.

Bawhahaha! Sunshine goes with me sometimes, I figure if fumes like that were going to harm her, our boxer would have knocked her dead long ago! (boxers are soooo gassy)

Same with my Boston Terrier!! Something about brachycephalic dogs and being gassy! I had a Boxer with a similar problem :o

I did take Rocky with me and thats how I learned she has a huge fear of toilet paper! I reached for it and she attacked so bad it was like a scene from "The Birds"! She screams anytime she can't see me when I am home so this time is no different. Now every time I reach for the toilet paper I have a fear that she will fly in and attack me off the toilet again!

Katsmeow that's hilarious!!! Nice to know the general consensus is good! Thanks for the Hilarious posts all around.

lol it was such a shocking experience that I had to laugh even when it happened. I wanted to tell you also that if dog farts and monkey poo hasn't knocked any of our birds off their perches yet, I would say that yours is relatively safe.

LOL This post made me laugh so hard! I take Kayak and Carlisle with me and I know my ex used to always take Carlisle with him. Carlisle plays on the towel rack or shreds toilet paper or just in general messes around the bathroom. Everything is put away so there isn't anything for him to get into. Kayak on the other hand is a terrible bathroom buddy. She gets overly excited and poops normally on the towels because she's sitting on the towel rack.

As long as Boom Boom seems content the go for it without worry about fumes exposure. Keep him on your shoulder, floor, sink countertop, walking around shower stall, etc.

...BUT... I'm sure you know this... don't spray air fresheners in there that he could breathe in.

Yes, as much as I miss my air freshners and scented oils, I gave it all up when Boomer came home :D

I'm thinking of buying a suction cup perch for the tile wall and have him use that as a secondary poop perch. That way we can both do our business together! Sweet!

I personally never have, but my boyfriend does all the time (AFP520) Lucy loves hanging out on his shoulder while he does his business. She'll make her way to the bathroom And will squawk along the way until she gets up on his shoulder. It's really quite cute. Just don't spray any Lysol or fragrant sprays in their while birdie is in there cuz that is def not good for their little lungs. And close the toilet seat right away!! Lol
