Sunny and Newman - Cockatiels
Newman and Sunny are sitting with me on the couch, Newman is sitting on my knee mumbling nonsense, and mixing up a couple sounds he knows. He mimics my husbands firepager tones, the telephone, he'll say 'hellooooo' and 'hi birds!'. Most of the time he just mumbles talking, not making any sense. Sunny has never uttered a word (aside from the usual chirps), although I've caught her twice just making short little 'ret ret ret' sounds.

What do your tiels say? Anything funny? Annoying (I hate the firepager sounds! But oh well...)

I don't have tiels, but I know they can whistle tunes VERY well. Not much into whole sentences , but it's not impossible

I have a conure, 6 months old. Not saying anything yet but when I ask for a kiss he will make a kissing sound. Too cute.

My little guy whistles If your happy if you know.. Then he follows up with a Watcha Doin? He can also wolf whistle and bark like a dog.

Oh my goodness he is SO cute! What a handsome guy! His song reminds me of this video: (FF to 35 seconds in) [ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U9NZnpleU0s"]Cockatiel sings "If Your Happy & You Know it" and talks - YouTube[/ame]

My tiel who passed away a few years ago would whistle the song from The Muppets - he was pretty good at it too!

I haven't gotten it on video, but one of my female cockatiels can wolf whistle. I can't whistle, so it's kind of hard for me to get *HER* to whistle! LOL

She's had at least two previous homes prior to mine, and I know she didn't learn it in her last one, but I don't know if the home prior to that was her first home or not.

Very true! My cockatiel Tweeters (R.I.P) used to whistle multiple tunes I taught him. :D

I have 2 tiels, Sunny (a cinnimon pearl lutino) and Aeros (grey pied). Sunny I have had for a couple of months. Aeros I just got last week. Sunny hasnt made a sound really other than his normal tiel sounds. But I noticed Aeros making several new sounds in the past few days. He rarely does them when out of his cage, but I have heard the wolf whistle, what sounds like an alarm, and then a whistle like you would use to call a dog. One of the repetitive whistles. And he really listens when I talk to him. Hell turn his head to the side and stretch his neck out. Its adorable. I have no doubt that he will soon be saying words and whistling tunes!

Those are very talented cockateils though the second one I kept wanting to say GOD BLESS YOU after each song :D It sounded like he ended each one with a couple of sneezes:D. My Chiquita is on my shoulder and she really enjoyed the videos. Thanks for sharing:)

My boy Moon says a few phrases: "Hello," "Whaddaya doin'?" "I love you," "I'm a pretty birdie," "Hi," and "Hi baby!" (I've only heard him say the last one once though). He doesn't talk much anymore, since he has a lady to woo, but when I first got him he talked quite a bit. I think he was an only bird in his first home.

(Gotta turn the volume up on this one, but he says "I love you" at the beginning)

And he also does his weird "Alien bird" thing -- he babbles and rants in his strange little version of human talk.

my male cockatiel Dexter talks quite well. he says
"Hey, baby whatcha doin?" and "are you ok?", this was after he hurt his nail, and I kept asking him "are you ok?", he learned how to say that in one day.

he knows how to nod, and when I ask him to move over in his cage so I can open the door(it folds down and outwards)he moves over.... he also knows the sexy whistle
....smart little monkey he is
I love him to bits too :)

That is the video where my little guy learned it from. He only heard the video twice and the next thing that came out of his beak was the "Whatcha Doin".. :white1:

Ticka talks all the time, he says whatcha doin? Whatcha doin boy?
And when the dog comes in the room he says "come on boy, what are you doin boy"
