Yes, like my human kids, these two fids could not have more different personalities. Gollum would crawl inside me if she could. If I want to stop giving scritches, I have to sit on my hands so she cannot see them because she will start pecking at them lol. Dobby just wants to be on me. Although she is not afraid of my head, I can kiss her on the beak... it is like she does not associate my hands and feet with being a part of my head and face (her nickname is toe biter and bat bird (because she hangs upside down by her feet when she is in her cage... hilarious bat bird)
I will take pictures today and I will have to remember how to upload them, its been a while.
I had mentioned in someone elses post about wanting to rescue a Macaw or AG. I had applied at my local rescue and they do not allow people without large bird exp to adopt large birds. Doublete mentioned a rescue in NJ and I filled out an app yesterday, heard back from them last night. It is 3.5 hours away and they require 3 or 4 trips before taking a bird home. My first reaction was forget that! Then I thought about it. What is 18-24 hours total drive time for a companion we will have for the rest of our lives. They require disease testing on my birds before I can even visit (which is AMAZING! I LOVE that! They should ALL do that!) I ordered the kits from Biotech because I cannot remember what I did with them lol. Now I will be forced to make them bleed... I cannot back out. (I can finally find out what Gollum really is, my money is on female). The more videos I watch and information I read, the more I am leaning towards a AG or... ekkie. As beautiful as the macaws are, they are just SO BIG. Although I have the room and space... they are just SO BIG. I am really excited about this rescue thing! I do not want to get another baby when there are so many birds in need of homes (besides 2 fids AND 2 kids all going through puberty at the same time... :O
