I was wondering if anyone else's amazon get redness around the eyes at night when the bird gets tired? My DYH seems to get red and it's more noticeable at night so I was wondering if it's because he's tired? Thanks.

Are you talking about reddish in or around the white eye ring? Nope, my Sam never gets red in there. But his eyes have changed from the dark baby eyes to the orangey red.

Nope not at all, when Bosley gets sleepy you can see him closing his eyes more and shaking his head to try and stay awake.

Nope. No redness in any of my six zons' eyes or orbital rings.

The only zon i have that has that is a very old ,very sick hen who hasn't been sleeping well. She wakes me at all times of the night rubbing on the cage bars because of bad infections in her throat. This week it's been bad and at the vet visit yesterday the red was visible around her left eye. She lost 35 grams this week, i'm trying one more different treatment and if things don't improve,,, i'm afraid it's the end. She's now lost 25% of her body weight in the last 2 yrs. This week's loss was the biggest yet.

Oh no, Capt!! I am so sorry to hear about your girl. It's your Pan hen you're talking about, right? :(

Yeah, Kong, "Missy K" we call her. It sucks watching her go down hill. Sorry, sometimes i just have to vent. A wild caught Panama hen, sweetest bird you ever met. I keep losing good Panamas,, it's killing me.

Oh, that makes me feel so very sad for you. Hoping for the best for your baby.

I hadn't even heard of this until henpecked has told us about her bird. As that wasn't the best story I can only advise to get you bird to the vets. Could very well be ill.
Fingers crossed its not.

Didn't mean to hijack your thread. That's the only time i've seen a zon with the red around her eye. It's only the left eye and i'm not sure it isn't caused by her rubbing on the cage bars. I do know she sleeps very poorly.
