Parrots
Cockatiels, Mexican Conure
Mine seem to know when I'm sick
Or sad
Or delirious on medication

Every time that happens to me my caique and conure mostly my caique. Will preen my face make kissy sounds and stay near me. Preen my hair and look at me so much.

I've been sick this week. And even though he's a complete psycho still, cheddar always remembers after his daily destruction scream routine to come back and check on me while I lay down

My budgie Rocky is very empathetic. She listens so intently and watches everything we do. When one of our budgies was dying in my husband's hands she perched on his shoulder and cooked her head to watch what was happening.
It's great that you Caique takes care of you when you don't feel well. Does he bring you chicken soup?

By chicken soup he will put pellets in his dish bowl. And dip himself in it. Soggy chicken soup

Do they know, yes I think so.
Do they care….. that depends.
Bingo cared if I was under the weather.
But we had a special bond.

The rest of my flock…. I have often thought they are more like cats in temperament.
They are in it for what they can get out of you.

If my wife was sick Bella would care.
Me…. As long as I can feed her and take her in for our Red Butt Shower, that’s all that matters.

Last time I was really sick, I remember JJ was super talkative ( like saying all of his best words and phrases ). I remember him craning his neck to look at me and calling, “ hello? HELLO! Hellooooo…” 😂. Maybe he was trying to cheer me up? At least he wasn’t screaming!

You need a bird that loves you. Ya wanna Budgie? I have a few extras. . .

I have no doubt that my CAG knows when I am unwell. I have migraines. They can be a minor nuisance. Sometimes I must stay in bed, no movement, no noise, NO lightning. On bad days, Nameliss allows me to stay quiet. She blows kisses, keeps relatively quiet entertaining herself. She asks me frequently, "are you alright" in such a sweet caring voice. It's so sweet. I wonder how much I love such a sweetie. When I am healthy I have a feathered dictator. I must get up, prepare breakfast chop, TV or audio books etc. I actually prefer the dictator.

Absolutely! If I am sick in bed he will sit quietly on my pillow next to my head for hours on end—until it is potty time. He will squirm and make little noises and that is the signal that I need to get up and get him to his cage to poop. Then we will go back to bed together. Rinse and repeat.

Oh goodness cheddar just does the backwards moonwalk shuffle before he poos we panick and try to get him over the floor instead of fabric

Nameliss says, Sorry, when she has to go. Don't know where she got it or when it started.

Alex knows and cares. If I even get myself worked up watching silly feel good vids on YouTube or whatever, he needs to check that I'm alright. If he's in his cage:whistling, tapping, wing flapping, insistent contact calls, frantic pacing, the whole 9 yards.

Hima also cares but obviously because she is flat, she cannot pace or anything like that lol

The others don't really care 😖😂 brats

I think Vortex notices when I'm under the weather. When I nap in the bird room, she's there beside me in her cage (My napping spot is beside her cage), and she watches me. It's uber cute. Sometimes she goes 'Morning! Morning!' Which I say in the morning to wake everyone up.

On the other hand does your bird insist that you be quiet or other things when they want to take a serious nap? Occasional during the day Nameliss will tell me.. "go to sleep". That's my cue to hold the noise down. Those naps last about 30 minutes.

My caique SCREAMS if he's trying to sleep and we make the slightest noise. He gets extra sleepy time at night because he's such a light sleeper he is covered from 9pm till almost 930am each day

Poor you! If I, dog, cat or daughter make noise at night I hear a soft voice..mooovvvee. or just move already. It's what my daughter and I say to get dogs or cats off pillows/hogging blankets. It means hurry up and go back to sleep.
