Around three months ago I adopted a 6 year old sun conure from my brother who had to move overseas and couldn't keep him. After doing some research, I found out that my the seed diet the bird was on was horrible and have now started to transition the conure to pellets. I have slowly introduced pellets into the diet and would slowly increase the pellet per seed ratio as I noticed the bird begin to eat more of them.

For the past week I have noticed that sporadically my bird is having very watery droppings that contain little to no feces in them. This will happen a couple of times per day with his other dropping appearing normal and healthy. I have not changed his pellet to seed ratio in over a month, and he appears to be eating the same amount as he has since I got him. The feces will be very watery and then other times if will be completely normal. I have not noticed any changes in the bird's behavior recently.

I included some picture of the droppings below. I appreciate the help. Really took a liking to this little guy and just hope he's ok.

Have you perchance been feeding any fruit? If I feed Nike any juicy fruit she has a watery movement or two.

Hmm, a few initial thoughts would be:

- did he bathe/shower before these poops?
- did he drink excessive amounts of water before these poops?
- did he eat something watery beforehand (fruit, mash, etc)?
- does he have constant access to food?

IF it's not a health issue, it's really a matter of whether he had a lot of fluid intake (hence increased urine) or he did not have a lot of food (hence decreased faeces).

If I were you, I would send these pics to your avian vet, explaining the situation, and ask them if it's worth coming in for a faecalysis.

You need to monitor how much your bird is eating/drinking, Enzo will have poops/wees like that after she has enjoyed a morning cup of tea. She will already have had her first 'huge' poop so to be expected, she has her tea then has her breakfast some time later.

Thanks for the responses! I do feed him fresh fruit and veggies (apple, broccoli, peppers, blue berries, peas, ect.) but I do not really notice a correlation. I'll try and keep a better eye. He does have access to food all day. I leave out his dish with pellets and seed along with a skewer that has his fruit and veggies. I am currently trying to bathe him everyday with a sprayer because on his own he will bathe about every three days.
