Eclectus feathers issue

Have you seen feathers shaft breaking in half? Only medium to small size affected - these are the shoulder features and the primary convert feathers. The larger tail and primary, secondary wings feathers are perfectly fine, as well as the thin ones from the neck up(eclectus head feathers are like hair thin).
Any input is highly appreciated. Thank you!

They don't generally break like that on their own unless there's something he's beating them up on. That would still be more tail or flights. If you're finding more than 1 or 2 he's likely barbering them. Many things can cause the behavior and it's certainly worth a conversation with your vet.

Thanks for the response. I double checked and it seems your lead is spot on - over preening, barbering the feathers. Adding one picture showing the exact problem we have with the feathers.
Had some concerns about parasites, but never found any evidence.
