Excited newbie!

Hi all,
I will be adopting an adult Yellow Crowned Amazon in the next few weeks so I thought I would get a jump start here so I can soak up as much info as possible! This will be my first amazon and I'm beyond excited! I've researched for the last year to make sure I would be ready so I'm looking forward to giving Gilligan a new, loving home.

Thank you very much! Gilligan is unsexed and over 20 years old! He's been with the same owner since he was weaned. I'm sure that I will be asking lots of questions!!

Thank you! I've been drawn to Amazons since I got my sun conure 9 years ago, just wasn't ready at that time! I've been reading through the forum for a few days just taking everything in, glad I found it!

Believe me, I know how people can make un-informed animal purchases, I used to breed bearded dragons! I'm a researcher about anything that I do!

I have some more info about Gilligan and am hoping to go pick him up next Tuesday. I'm been told that he only gets fruits and veggies 3-4 days per week...how concerned should I be about this inconsistent diet?? He seems to be quite the talker so I'm excited to have a new visiting buddy! LOL! I'm expecting pics from the current owner today and will post ASAP!

I'm baaaaack!!! I finally got Gilliagan!!! And I'm soooo in love I can't even stand it! There are some updates though, he's actually a DYHA not a YC. He's such a ham and loves to put on a show. His prior owner of 20 years said that he doesn't like being touched or handled but he stepped up for me immediately and likes to hang out on my shoulder!! I think for some reason she was intimidated by him, I could tell by her body language while we were there.
