Expect the unexpected ...

Welp, it's been an eventful last 48 hours for me. At 3:00 on Thursday afternoon my wife's water broke and at 12:18 on Friday afternoon our daughter arrived, six weeks early. The kicker, this was 24 hours before my sister's wedding in which both my wife and myself were bridesmaid/groomsman in ... complete chaos!!

Annaleigha Lynn weighed in at a whopping 4 lbs. 13oz. and 19 inches long. There have been a bunch of post birth complications with both baby and mom and I have been running back and forth to the hospital running on only a few hours of sleep. Both are doing better now, mom more so than baby, but baby is doing just fine.

Pictures will be posted when she comes home and is away from all of those damn tubes, wires and machines that go "beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep"

Take all the time you need - we'll be here when you get back, looking forward to wonderful baby stories, and frustrating birdie stories (I wonder how the fids will react).

Five weeks early ... she's already surprising you! I'm glad to hear they're both doing well. Keep us updated when you get the chance.

Congratulations, everything will be fine. My son was 3 months preemie weighed 3 lbs. He's now 15 and you would never know he was so little as a baby. Those beeping machines with be a memory of the past and you will have some special stories to tell as she gets older. Try not to wear yourself too thin, it's very easy to do that. Again congrats!

Here's an update - Tubes and wires are off of, and out of, everyone! Both are fine and as soon as the baby can learn to nurse properly (maybe the next 2 days or so) they will be on their way home. Can't wait for that ...
