hey all,

is anyone able to confirm if febreeze is indeed harmful to birds?

i've read those that claim it's fine and well tested for animal safety and those that claim it is toxic, period.

then i've read that most of the people starting the 'it's toxic' mind set are those that hate the people that make febreeze products bc they test on animals and therefore want to steer business away from them.

does anyone know the truth with web info to back it up?

thanks!

I just deleted and entire paragraph because i double checked your post to discover that you typed fabreeze not frisbee. And that would not have made any sense at all. Now i got nothin'. As far as fabreeze goes, from what I've heard is don't do it. And forget about scented candles, Lysol, love my carpet, Pine sol and vanillaroma car freshener. And get used to, especially if you are a apt dweller as I am, your place smelling like whatever you just cooked last.

Yes, who are those crazy veterinarians to think they know anything about animal safety. Surely the paranoid delusions of some random guy with a webpage are more reliable.

Guess you can find anything on the internet nowdays to justify an opinion. I deleted my message because it was silly AG. I agree.

Sorry ... I don't think your post was silly. And I think there are valid concerns - we should always be very careful.

But the tone of the linked website was .... odd. He quoted veterinarians and certified safety experts saying it was safe, but ended the page by asking "who are these people to think they are qualified in pet safety" or something similar.

DO be careful, DO question everything. But also do respect the knowledge and expertise of veterinarians. It is their job to know pet health. If you're veterinarian says do not use Febreze then don't. But the ones I have talked to are inclined to believe it is safe.

It is vary hard (or impossible) to 'prove' something is safe, but as of yet I know of no reliable evidence to suggest it is not safe.
