So I got all this stuff as a free gift with an order I placed. Now all I have to do is figure out what I'm going to do with it all. I've made a lot of crafty stuff in the past (wreaths, blankets, brooms, cross stich, etc), but have never made a bird toy yet. Any suggestions on how to get started? I might add in some other stuff he likes, a bell, straws, etc.

Here's what hubby and I came up with. We added in the straws, bells, and bottle caps. River was watching intently from his cage while we worked. Here's hoping he likes them! :)

that's neat! I hope river likes what I have for him! I'm having trouble locating a box to fit it all in! :( I only have itty bitty boxes haha

Andrea, thanks! I'm sure River will love what you have for him! :)

Merlinsmom, I'm definately curious to what the "after River" shots will look like too! lol I put the larger toy in his cage and he ran right over to investigate. Now he's diligently trying to remove the straws from the balls. (those things were hard to cram in there!)

You did a good job and made a really cute toy. It is fun too!

Thanks Spiritbird! It really was fun. I plan to buy more pieces and try making some more toys. :)

I am going to get back making bird toys soon. Will put my jewelery crafting away for a while as not many people want to spend money for extras.

I use to hate making toys but now I find it relaxing...it destresses me. LOL

He loves them! He had that raffia piece on top shredded into little bits in no time! lol
