Barkley (4yo Eclectus)----
Pepper (7yo White-Capped Pionus)
We bought Pepper, my white-capped, a new orbitor swing and it only took two months, but he's FINALLY playing with it! He's such a catious bird. Right now we have a new toy for him to play with (he likes to chew on wood or leather) and it's attached the outside bottom of his cage so he can get used to it. Hopefully soon I'll be able to put it in for him. :) :) Is anyone else's pionus a one person bird or a catious bird?

Is it unusal for them to get attached to one person? Pepper was my baby and he loved to preen me until a hurricane. We boarded the animals, went on vacation and had no idea there was a hurricane and couldn't get back. He was with the vet for 3 months and now he despises me. I keep talking to him and giving him his food and water. And if he's on the floor he'll start walking up to me if I don't make any sudden movements. So I'm hoping we'll get reaccquainted once again. :) Just trying to be patient. (Mind you this was in 2005!) Now he's a holy terror sometimes.

I have a lttle green quaker and it can take days to a month to decide that a new toy is not out to kill him. I also have an african redbellied parrot and as soon as you put in a new toy she runs over to investigate and play with the new toy, she seems to have no fear of anything toy wise. Alison and sweetie pie:D

Hey, better cautious that reckless, right? That's what my (overly) cautious beloved would say!

One winter my Dad bird-sat a couple of female parakeets for his neighbor who went away, and all he had to do to cause a ton of commotion was move a toy when cleaning their cage, and they were all in a tizzy for hours, and suspicious of it for days!

lol. Barkley, my ecclectus, runs and I mean runs to find out what I bought at the pet store for him. If he's out he'll jump off the cage or playstand to come get it. Now Pepper, he's the cautious one.
