Financial aid departments are so frustrating.

I swear my finanical aid department's name should be the run around department. Anyways long story short this quarter my finaical aid is $707 over my tuition which means I should be getting that back well after MANY FRUSTRATING conversations I'd say at least 3 dozen before they finally told me that I would not recieve any money back because of something to do with my parent plus loan that my mom had to take out for me. So she contacted the student accounts and if she understood them right she checked the box that said the excess from each quarter will go to her instead of me but if she changed that now it would severly mess up my financial aid so we are waiting to see if she get the money in her account by saturday if not we are calling the student accounts to finally get it all straightened out.

I have a solution for you...

Buy yourself a beater car, deliver pizzas 40 hours a week, pay your way through college 12 hours a semester, take summer classes too, and graduate in 4 years totally debt free.

It might be harder, but you'll have a lot more self respect, and you'll never have to stress out over what's going to happen, or be beholden to anyone for helping you out.

All of your graduating friends will be $50,000 in debt (at least), and you'll be the one not having to settle for your first job lowball salary offer so you can start paying off your student loans.

It worked for me.

I am actually working full time as well as going through college and paying my own bills and right now I am barely making enough to pay my bills let alone pay for college I had already put off college for two years because I had originally planned to work my way through college and do it without finanical aid however that did not work out very well so I am using finanical aid. Plus my first year alone is over 11,000 so financial aid is the only way I am able to attend college.

University education is so expensive...my daughter has a BSci Honours and a Masters degree in business. It took six years, at approx. $10,000 per year. She worked as many hours as she could during the summers, and concentrated on studies during the school year. We paid most of the bill because we were able to, but many are not in that position. It breaks my heart to see so many with such a large debt, so early in life. Do your best...I hope it all works out well for you!

I am hoping to talk to my scheduling manager to get more hours so that I can hopefully save about $100 a month and hopefully it will allow me to start paying off some of my student loans early

I am doing online classes at colorado technical university and am majoring in business. But have just started to get my associates degree so I have a long way to go but will get there eventually.

Wow....that's pretty expensive.

Remember, I'm just trying to be helpful...I would really see if there is a good state school in Washington. Much, much cheaper. A degree from one school (within reason) makes no difference whatsoever after 2 years on the job. By that time, they're paying you for your ability and attitude, not your pedigree. A degree from a big name school might get you into an extra door or two, but in he long run, it won't matter.

This is my version of a pep talk. It might not seem like it, but I'm always trying to look out for everybody. Hang in there...college is rough sometimes.

I'd second the vote on a simpler state college. Professors who work at the colleges WANT to teach, so the students get a better education.

The fancy big name universities just put a nice name on the degree, but you often will not get as much of an education.

I got my BS at a small college, now I'm teaching at a large university. I really feel sorry for the students here as most professors do not care about them nor their education. There are very few worthwhile classes offered and most students just end up going through the motions rather than actually learning anything. I'm looking forward to teaching at a small college eventually.

NoFear don't worry I understand However I chose CTU online for many reasons including the fact it's accellerated degree program. It is entirely online which makes keeping a full time job much easier. I just feel this is the best school for me it's not about a "big name school". Honestly this whole situation would not bother me so much if I wasn't already told I was going to get about $700 back which I had planned to use to buy a computer for school work

Almost all students find themselves in the same situation as yours. There are so many college graduates paying their student loans and it is like they are putting their career and life on hold because of this. I hope you can settle your problems right away.
