Flight Suit

I have not want to clip Doc's wings, but don't want to him to fly off either. Was looking into flight suits, but don't know if there safe, and/or effective? Has anyone ever used a flight suit on there bird?

hey chris one one im getting for my blue gold in the aviator harness seems to be the best out of them. im trainging mine for free flying so thats how im starting.

I personally don’t like the flight suits. I just don’t trust velcro with my birds life. I use the aviator harness with my guys.

Thanks to everyone. Going to check out the aviator harness. May end up having to get his wings clipped though, before he hurts himself. He just took flight for the first time on the 5th of February. So his landing is aweful painful for the walls and fridge. LOL! I just don't want him to get hurt. Do any of you know how long after the first clip before his wings will grow back? I don't want to take his freedom of flying away, but might have to until I get a flight suit or aviator harness. How is a rope around the leg ring? Would that be safe?

I would think he could break his leg if you have a rope on his leg ring. If he is in flight and gets to the end of the rope it would yank his leg and do quite abit of damage.

I'd just go with a harness, I wouldn't trust a suit and my birds ( if they even came in that size lol! ) would never agree to put it on. I made a harness for a pigeon while it was healing so it could exersize but I wouldn't recommend doing that with your parrot. The pigeon couldn't fly that well anyway.

Hey ratzy, Flightsuits come in budgie sizes You just have to order them from the original manufacturer online.

I'm not trying to endorse flightsuits or anything, But i do like them. My pionus use to be fully flighted and I took him for a walk with his flightsuit on. He got startled by a extra fast car and took flight. The flightsuit held fine and I was able to calm him down.

My experience with harnesses is a different story, and the kind I bought (don't remember the brand) in that he was able to tighten the strap around his neck by pulling on the chest band. I know harnesses can be awesome, but my experience with that one was frustrating. He was very much happier with the flightsuit and so was I because it is designed not to go around his neck.

On the other hand, I've heard awesome stories about harnesses working safely and comfortably on the bird. Just wanted to put my two cents in

I just got an aviator harness for my GCC and he hates it. I got it on him and he spent the entire time trying to get it off of him...even when I took him outside. Now if I even pick up the harness he freaks out. Although, a macaw would probably do a lot better because its easier getting the harness on them.

my macaw hates the aviator harness, although i think its well made and would love angel to wear it, everytime she see#s it she flies to the top of her cage. but out of all the harness' out there i think the aviator is the best.

I have a flight suit for Levi. I don't use it, as he's so clumsy in it, that I don't think it's safe for him.
