Hi everyone im becky, on june 15, at my grandsons little league game a bird flew from somewhere to my 3yr grandbabies head, my son in law picked up the little lost creature and put it on his shoulder, he seems to be people friendly, we have posted fliers in the neighborhood surrounding the park and at our local pet stores and other areas, no one has come forward to claim this little guy so hence mama now has a quaker parrot im told by our pet store, I have acquired a gage for him and he seems to be adjusting. I am really becoming attached to him although he seems alittle skittish of me. Im just giving him time and talking to him a lot. I have reserved some books on parrots too so I can read up on him. I found your website by accident while I was searching sites on how to build homemade perches. Im trying really hard to try to get him to come on my finger instead of having to reach for him by covering his head. So any tips you can give me I will be read with enthusiasm. Thank you for being here.:greenyellow:

Welcome to PF!

Have you looked on websites like Craigslist, Kijiji (ebayclassifieds) and 911parrot? What about at local vets? Bird clubs? Does he have a leg band? Unlikely, but has he been checked for a microchip?

Welcome to the forum :D

Did you go by a avian vet as well? Birds can be micro chipped and the vet can scan them.

Although you are enjoying him don't give up finding his original home, people often find their birds months after loosing them.

Well if you cant find the owner cause some people think turning birds loose is a good idea , I would take him to a vet an have him checked out to make sure he is healthy . then try fresh fruits an veggies to see what he likes best an give that to him randomly

hi tweety I will do that , have lots to learn but willing to do it, tonight I said bedtime he went into his cage, progress alittle at atime

your welcome ..... enjoy the new baby

I would continue looking for the owner who most likely lost this poor thing. Someone could be heartbroken right now because they lost a pet.
Craigslist "lost and found" in your local area is the place I would check first.
Some people even offer rewards.
Good luck with him if the owner can't be found.

Welcome to the forum. :)

If you are unable to locate the Quaker's owner, I think you are doing a GREAT job at educating yourself about this little guy! Thank you for that!! :)

morning everyone, today I register my newly found parrot on the bird911 site, I will continue to look for the owner of my little new friend but until then I am taking good care of him, hes eating well, seems alittle quite but im sure that's Also I will take a picture of him today in his new home thanks everyone for the info and concern

I have posted to bird911, craigslist, and posted around area where he was found

It truly sounds as if you're doing everything in your power to find your little friend's owner. :)

If he doesn't come forward, or if you just can't find him/her, I'm sure he'll be in good hands with you. :)

He sure will! The skitishness will fade in time, and it sounds like you're being very patient with him. Can we see pictures? Is he coming out of his cage yet?

Congrats on your little rescue and god bless you for taking him in. You are doing right by him and if they owner never shows up at least he has you!!!! Good luck!!!

Quakers are great little birds. Did you give him a name yet? Can't wait for pictures:)
