Hello everyone!

I just had to pop in here and give an update about our super spoiled, always curious, extremely independent, never ending feathered ball of energy - Franklin.:D

He's 9 1/2 months old now, he's owned us for 7.

WE LOVE HIM!

He went through a horrible bitey stage but seems to have outgrown it for now, however, I'm not keeping my fingers crossed as I understand he's not at his "terrible two's" age yet.

Since he's owned us, he's learned lots of wonderful things and because of his unending natural curiosity he picks up on things pretty quickly.

He's learned to "shake hands" and "wave" when I tell him "go get your ball-e" he usually will run and get it and MOST of the time he'll bring it back. He's a kisser, I realize now, that everytime I pick him up, I bring him to my lips for a quick kiss and now he stretches up and kisses me back every time he gets on my hand.

Franklin is becoming quite a good talker! This is a real treat because conures aren't known much for their talking skills. I really MUST try to get some video of him as he speaks better than any conure I've seen on youtube!

He says, and quite clearly for a little green cheek..."Hello" "Chicken Little" (our cockatiels name) "Good Boy" and lately he's trying to say "Him a good boy" and it comes out sounding like "heia ooh oie!?" and every single night when he goes to bed, he whispers himself to sleep..."pretty pretty pretty pretty pretty bird, pretty bird, pretty pretty bird." Sometimes he goes through that phrase 2 or 3 times before dozing off to dreamland.:rainbow1: And when he hears me laugh out loud, oh my gosh....he laughs and it's soo loud, so annoying and extremely funny, so it makes me laugh harder, which makes him laugh LOUDER. He LOVES to laugh with me.

The other thing is he is a real ham! He LOVES having his picture taken and his fascination with my camera is unbelievable! He actually POSES for several seconds when he see's the camera pointed at him and when he hears the shutter click, he'll then move.

His last "photo" shoot was so precious and I've posted a few of the pictures for you. I especially love the one where his head is tilted to the side and his foot is up...it almost looks like he's somewhat confused and saying "huh?" Or "What???" :p

He hadn't flown at all, not even a flutter since we got him. And about 2 weeks ago he had climbed up to the top of my spouses inversion table. I was sitting at the computer. He was up there strutting his stuff, when he decided he wanted to be with me but couldn't quite figure out how to get down, suddenly he fluttered over toward me.

I about cried, it was soo cute! Since then, he's flown a few extremely short little spurts not all crazy and out of control. Mostly he prefers to walk, run and climb everywhere. I was beginning to wonder if he understood that his wings actually had a purpose. My own reaction to his little flight suprised me, it was how I felt when my human children, took their first step or learned to ride a bike without training wheels, or the first time I saw my daughter in a little school program.

Geesh I can't believe how attached I get to my animals!

Franklin absolutely LOVES LOVES LOVES to go bye bye in the car, and he's been to all the stores in our little town. Everyone LOVES to see Franklin and although he's still unsure about having "strangers" hold him...he's NOT shy. He surley shows off and I can tell if he feels like the attention is OFF of him for even a few moments, he'll raise and stretch up and make a kissing noise...almost like he's saying "Hey you! Over there! Watch THIS!" Then he'll climb down my arm and hang upside down or something.

While everyone is oohing and awwwing over Franklin, he'll sit on my shoulder and preen and preen...he's totally full of himself.

Last week, he learned how to get out of his slide up feeder door so now it has to be locked shut. I must say, I was quite suprised when I came home from work and he was out and his cage was all closed up. He watches when I take the lock off and he's out in mere seconds! Little Stinker!

So thats my Franklin Brag Fest thank you for reading and putting up with all my yabbering and enjoy the photo's. :D

He sounds a lot like my Nanday, lol! Only she isn't so good about having her picture taken. Now my amazon will ham it up, but he also tries to eat the camera!
