1 BFA- Kiwi. Hatch circa 98', forever home with us Dec. 08'
So this morning when I uncovered the dark lord, he was in a mood most foul for reasons unknown. I reached in the cage to get his dishes and he decided not to let me grab the water (which is the farther one back) so I just kind of warded him off with the food dish (did not even touch him) so I could grab the other one. Getting the just comeuppance he deserved for being a total jerk, he managed to fall right off his perch. And at the moment he so unceremoniously plopped onto the cage floor, an explosion of dander, tiny seed husks, feathers etc... came puffing out the door (from the cage floor, it was paper changing day). Then after a moment of shock, he indignantly waddled to the side of the cage and climbed back up, mumbling birdie curse words under his breath.

Seriously guys, between the falling, bird detritus explosion and his complete indignity over the whole situation I was hyperventilating I was laughing so hard. Oh, and he has been the model of good bird behavior the rest of the day. Guess he must’ve been really embarrassed.

Hahahaha, Love it!

The total frustration of a plan (regardless of how quickly conspired) failing!!!
And, to fall upon the floor of the cage!!!
Unspeakable!!!

The "mumbling birdie curse words under his breath" was likely the sharp edge of total frustration with the World in which He Rules! Likely thanking the gods above that he didn't require his Human Staff to save him from the floor!!!

May his Rule of his World bring him comfort tomorrow! Some toy is likely to suffer greatly when you're not looking! :D

As a favor, I have blocked this Thread from Julio's access!!! Staff friend to staff friend...

Everyone has their grumpy moments, but the loss of dignity here with a witness just takes a "bad day" to another level. My sympathies to all involved in this travesty.

I’m sure he appreciates his buddy Julio not hearing of this!

While one never wants to anthropomorphize too much into the emotions of animals, it is clearly highlighted by such situations that parrots, if nothing else have a wide range of their own emotions that certainly seem close to our own. And I think you’re probably right, he probably was thankful in his own way he could at least crawl back up to his perch by himself without suffering the further embarrassment of asking for human assistance after how he behaved.

Kiwi got up on the wrong side of the perch!!

Your creative writing amplified a hilarious situation!!

Thanks for the giggles, April and Kiwi! Hilarious visual of the Dark Lord’s fall from grace. I’m glad he had enough dignity and self control to allow you to walk away, flesh intact.
