Hello, I had a bonded and DNA pair of galah for 2 years now.
The female is constantly visiting the nest box but the male would enter thereafter and chase the female out with bit of commotion.

I wasn't sure how to resolve this as its been going on for awhile now. I've added extra beding and wood blocks to the nest box but doesn't seem to make a difference .

Appreciate any advice . thanks

Welcome the forum. I dont breed old world parrots. Maybe someone can help. Are you saying they've only been together for 2 yrs. How old are they.

Hi in the hope that you are correctly set up to give these birds and any offspring the correct treatment that they deserve I am enclosing a link which may help about set up etc for you.

I would like for you to send that reassurance back that you are doing this properly ie the birds are well looked after and thus will not cause the birds any harm or distress.
Thanks.

Have they been mating? Is the hen the one who instigated mating? Are you sure the male knows how to "ride the bicycle" ? Does he have extra long nails? How long has the nest box been up?

Hi , thanks for the reply. I haven't seen them mate so wasn't sure. The pair is at least 5 years old and the nest box was introduced for 2 years already. The male exhibit aggressive behavior when the female visit the nest box. I'm planning to introduce additional nest box to provide more options . hopefully might work.

Well, because no one else is responding. Remove the nest box, don't ever leave them up year round. Intro the box when they're ready. Intro the box when you see them mating. You need to stimulate the mate. The wood blocks are a help and a sarafical entrance would also help. But you need the help of introducing the nest box. Yeah 5 yrs is still pretty young. Don't exspect successful clutches for the first few seasons.

Thanks for coming to the rescue on this (I tried). Your posts are great and hope to see more of them :)
