GCC Beak? Does YOURS look like this?

Sooo.. Loki's beak has always looked this way. It's nothing new. He eats, chews, etc just fine, but it looks.. different. I didn't think anything of it until a friend asked "what's wrong with his beak?" (Although, she is not bird-educated, and he DID have food on his beak at the time.. still.)
It just hasn't been sitting right with me, and would like some other opinions.

Sorry they're kinda blurry, couldn't get him to sit still..


It's like that on both sides, so it's not crooked or anything.

And that's what its like all the time, like it never closes fully.

Here's Kiwi for comparison.. (Given, she's a white-eared, not a GCC, but still.)


She wouldn't let me see her right side. Weirdo..


It doesn't seem like anything to worry or fuss over, but I definitely don't want to be over-looking something that could be potentially harmful in the long run. Opinions, comments, suggestions? Please and thanks.

It just appears to me that he has a sort of "gap" on both sides of his beak, where the lower and upper mandible should connect or shut snuggly, his has a gap.
And thank you! His colors are quite bright for a yellow-sided, I can't wait for his first big molt so I can see what more happens! (He's just barely a year old, so I'm expecting a molt from him soon.)

My Yellow Sided's upper and lower beaks close tightly like your Kiwi. I looked at her photos when she was 3 months old and the more recent photos of one year old. Her beak has always been the same. She will be 1 year old in 4/15.

That's what I was thinking- I wonder if his lower beak might be too long? Or maybe I'm just fussing over nothing.

I think some birds beaks just sit differently then others depending on how their beak grows.

My mother's Sun Conure always seems to have a gap in his beak, like his beak is slightly open all the time.

I have also found that sometimes birds will open their beak slightly randomly, almost like they're smiling.

I don't think its something to worry about.

They're very pretty by the way.

If she is eating normally and not refrain from chewing toys like Kiwi, then I think her beak is normal. The different looks might be a trait different between birds. I have a friend who was born with one leg shorter than the other. He may be limping a little, but he is healthy, married, have normal kids, just like anyone else. Nothing to worry about.

Sounds good to me, then. I'll just bring it up next time we make a trip to the vet, just in case. I figured it was nothing, but you can never be too careful as a parront, yeah?
