1 Yellow Sided Green Cheek Conure: Cody <3
I have a chance to get a new cage for Cody off of craigslist. Well, it's a very large cage, looking fit for up to an amazon or an african grey sized bird. Well, the cage has 3/4" bar spacing, is this too large? I've heard both yes and no on some google searches... but figured I'd come and ask here! The cage he's in now is 1/2" spacing, and 3/4" doesn't seem too much bigger?

Thanks! :)

I really need some advice, I'll be going to look/ possibly buy the cage tomorrow. I really don't think he'd be able to get through it, but I read on a few sites that 3/4" is too big. Should I just use my best judgment? This is such a nice cage! I mean, Cody has a few areas on his current cage that the bars were bent when I got it, and those measure 3/4" and he's never gotten his head stuck.

Edit: I've attached a picture of the cage.

Personally, I don't think I would go that big for a green cheek. They are a smaller conure. I would stick to 1/2 inch. The larger conures may be able to go that big, but I would not feel comfortable with a smaller one.

Having Green Cheeks, I know for a fact that they can fit half of their body through a 3/4" bar spacing! 1/2" is great, do not go past 5/8".

go for it look like the same cage i have for mine and there is 2 bars he can get his head through (just as the cage starts to go inward at the top to the point but simple covering it with mesh or wood anything can stop him putting his head through :D
