I have had my GCC for about a month or so. And he doing fabulous, people are amazed at how long I've had him and how well behaved he is. He goes to stores with me and everything now. But I have heard that GCC are noisy and loud but Buddy my GCC isn't noisy at all is that good? He only makes sound when he's awake and I need to uncover him and let him out or its his bedtime. And they ever cute one someone is at the door. Is it normal to have a particular quite GCC.

Also weight and size of a Conure I have seen other Conure's and he seems small but i'm not sure I weighed him a rough weight was around 2.0oz which is 56.6 grams if I did the math right. He eats just normally and has his fruits and veggies (Pureed or mashed only way he eats them at the moment) spray millet and treats. Whats normal for a GCC:green2:

As far as the noise goes I believe GCC are one of the quieter parrots. I know Fred is the same way where he only makes noise in the morning if he is not uncovered and then his before bed chatter.

As far as weight goes I don't know as I feel as though Fred is under weight at 63.5 grams. I know my local bird store said a good nut mix with pellets and seeds mixed in is best, but then again I'm not sure as Fred is tiny as well.

Good luck

My GCC is very quiet as well. I don't know about the weight issue, but you can feel around the keel bone running down the center of the breast to see if there is sufficient muscle/body mass there ... if so that's a good sign.

Weight stability is more important than actual weight; I wouldn't worry too much unless it continues to decrease. For reference, mine is generally 75g; a smaller gcc will obviously just weigh less.

There are different subspecies of green cheek conures, so first and foremost, weight is going to vary!

When we've hybridized all these subspecies (as well as hybridized with other species), we end up with birds that have a huge weight range!

What's not important is the weight of your bird as compared to other birds of the same species. What *is* important is the weight of your own bird as compared to his body. If he is not underweight or overweight and feels 'about right' (keel bone is not "U" shaped with an indent down the middle, or "V" shaped but nicely inbetween) for his size, he's probably fine!
