Getting an emu!!!

No I'm not really but I was browsing the pet section on Craigslist in the area we will be moving to soon and I saw an add for Emu chicks $225 each or two for $400. I love the emu playing with dog videos on YouTube and for about 3 whole seconds (that is 2.9 seconds longer than any rational human would) I considered it. My brain is GONE!

Emu's are really cool! I am friends with someone who has an emu farm, and we have visited them, and their chicks! It's amazing! I have a ton of their feathrs, lot of eggshell pieces, and a WHOLE egg! They use their emu's for meat and oil, which has helped me tremendously with some skin issues.

Yep! It's in the fat underneath their feathers, mostly located on their back. It takes roughly two years to get enough for it to be worth raising them. I guess that's why they are still used for livestock purposes, as they don't give off enough meat for the time it takes to raise them. But the price for the oil justifies it, I suppose. The oil is used for a variety of things, like for sore muscles, bruises, stretch marks, and inflammation.

If you ever want any, I work there occasionally and get quite a bit of oil and products for free. So I could send you some if you ever want to try it. ^^
