How do you do it?

Well how friendly is your 'zon? You can carry him into the shower with you and enjoy the fun. You can wheel his cage out on a nice day and use the hose or you can towel him and put him in the shower and shut the door. It all depends on the bird.

Mine depend on their mood. I often just take them outside and hose them. They seem to enjoy it best when I set the hose to mist and spray upwards.

Mango doesn't have a mean bone in him. It's ok to expose him to warm water and get him drenched?

luke warm is fine. Baby temp. Sounds like you should put a persch in the shower and let him have at it.

It depends on the bird itself; if it actually likes showers, if it likes being misted, or if it likes to soak itself in a shallow bowl of water. if you've never showered mango, try putting a shallow bowl of water near him and then mist him with some warm water and see what he likes. if he's enjoying himself, he should puff up and spread his wings out and ask for more. you can tell if he's happy or not. ;)

if he just likes misting, he won't get into the bowl of water. it doesn't matter if he's perched on a shower perch, in his cage, or just standing on the kitcehn counter.. as long as it's somewhere he's comfortable in, and isn't cold!

carry him into the bathroom when the shower is running. You'll know if he likes showers!!! most amazons love a shower.

I wish my zon was water friendly. The poor fella screeches NO, NO, NO when I mist him down with a spray bottle and runs around all worked up. Then again, he screams NO at a lot of things due to his previous owner, so I'm not sure if it's just he likes screaming no or genuinely hates the misting as he doesn't do his tailfan/eye pin like he does when genuinely mad.

Any advice to warming him up to the idea of "bathtime" not making him so worked up? I've tried both cool and warm water to see if either made a difference but it didn't seem to.

Mine get pretty worked up at bath time. tail flared, eyes pinned. That just means they are excited.Oh and they get very vocal.

For a rehome that does not like a mist bottle I would move on to the shower. So many people use spray bottles as punishments.

I turn on the water! It's harder to get my zons OUT of the shower, than in it! My red lored does the Happy Flappy dance the minute the water goes on...

I bathe Taino in the kitchen sink with the small hose. Since we moved to the Caribbean, he gets more showers and misty-sprayed due to the heat. When we lived in California he didn't get as many baths.

It was quite hot today, so I squirted my birds with the hose. They seemed to like it. I did anyway, I felt like it would cool their areas down.

It's funny, their reactions are so severe, that I always wonder if my birds like the shower, or if I'm just torturing them, and they're angry.

Sometimes we just mist them, but 2/3 times a week, I will put two perches in the shower, and the three of us get in together.

Bacci, our Amazon will puff up, and shake his tail upon getting misted, but the wetter he gets, the louder and more animated he becomes. Sometimes he works himself up to full on screeching, and stretching his wings out, and ducking his head underneath them....it's quite a spectacle, and I have to wonder if this is out of enjoyment, or is he pissed?

Anyone else get this kind of display from their wet Amazon?

Im open to any help I can get here as well.......

I tried sitting Sammy on the sink but he aint having it. So I mist him with a spray bottle , he don't run from it really, but after a bit he will start to climb the curtain behind his cage as if to run, the whole time though he will spread his wings as if wanting more. lol he is so hard to read. I would love to be able to get him to stay on a perch for the spraying but I don't know if that will happen or not.
now, during his climbing routine I can say " Sammy Come'Mere" and he comes running. lol
Lordy, will I ever understand this bird? lol

That zon loves his bath. That's how mine act.
