Hello everyone,
I'm going to be going away mid-June. i'll be going to see all of my family in New Zealand, and will be gone for 2 weeks. i'm a bit worried, as this will be the longest i'll have ever been away from Jasper (the longest I've been away from him is 3 days). One of my step-sister's will be staying here while we're away. I'm kind of glad it's not the other one who is staying here, as last time I went away (with my mother) she didn't feed and of my birds, and they all had green water (I don't know how none of the died) Although I'll be writing out lists of what to feed who, how often to do water, fruit and veg, ect, and money to buy more fruit and vegetables, I'm still incredibly worried; and it's still 5 weeks away! I worry that Jasper will be ignored, and not go outside (they don't have to handle him, just talk to him, give him attention, and that kind of stuff) of that my aviary birds won't be looked after properly (especially as they will be in breeding season then).

I know that they are the best person to do, considering last time... I'm hoping they can do much better. And they will be sending me photo's as I worry about my birds  :(

But other than that it should be all fine, and I'll finally get to see family I haven't seen in at least 5 years :D

Also I went to a butterfly house (they keep and breed butterflies as well to send them to zoo's and such) they look kind of weird up close. it was awesome to see hundreds of these butterflies all together.

I can't give you any advise on being away from Jasper. Maybe someone else will soon.

As far as the Butterfly's OMG that is to cool. We have some that Migrate by where I work. Every Year this Flock of Yellow butterfly's spend a few days on the back lot. I love watching them.

If you have a new technology smart phone, you can send video of yourself, talking to your parrot(s). The same is true from the caregivers.

The next tech level is video phone connection. Live chat with your parrots - in real time!

Have your caregiver over for a weekend in advance of your travel and take a backseat - address questions as they come up. You get a level of comfort and so does your caregiver.

Not going to tell you not to worry, we both know that would be a waste of time. :D

I have face timed with my fids. I flew for work in late February and Husband would start face time. I got my daily fanfare from Buddy, meaning when I walk in the front door he loudly greets me. He also talked to me. I think video chatting is awesome with our fids.

I can understand your concern given what happened the last time! I'm sure this step sister knows of your upset and unacceptable behavior from your other step sister? Emphasizing this, and having her send pics (of the food and water, and whatever else) daily is a good idea, as well as having her over for some time to 'practice' beforehand. Reading something on paper is much different than actually doing it.

Wow, I love butterflies! It's been a while since I'be been to a butterfly exhibit. Now is the time of year here, I should find one.

She'll be send daily photo's, and I will be showing her what yo do, ect (she mostly already knows what I do for Jasper), and the video thing is a good idea, thank you :)
She is aware what happened last time (and was hortified)
