going hormonal 2nd time?

I thought amazon parrots only had one period of hormonal excess a year. My YNA Bingo seemed to go through his in January.
Just starting this week he has been trying to um "mount" anything he can.
I have never heard of this behavior happening 2 times in one year.
anyone out there have this happen with there Zon?

Let me add that I always thought he was a male but have never had it verified. Based on his behavior I am only about 65% sure. Next vet visit I think I will have a DNA blood test.

Good idea on the DNA testing.

Yup, Amazons can have multiple 'events' during any year! BUT, after the normal one that can run during December - mid-late February (does vary with some Amazon to Amazon). The rest are driven by 'stuff' we do to them. Some Examples: Poor sleep patterns, warm mushy foods, specific body contact, etc....

Take a long honest look at your Amazon's life style of the last couple of months and adjust as needed. NOTE: The most common is poor sleep habits.

The only change I can think of is one I have been waiting for for months.
I have been working day shift since January and I hate it (getting up @2:30 am to bed @ 6:00 pm)
Finally been put back on swing (2nd) shift, this lets me have more quality time with my birds in the morning.
I don't know what I can do to calm him down other than less handling and he wont like that any more than I will.
I have also been working with him to put the aviator harness on him but I don't think that's it.

This is not about handling, but where the handling occurs.

I am unsure of where the harness is attached, so I cannot judge whether it is contributing or not. That is something you have to watch.

Too slow and then stop out of faze hormonal events, one of the primary tools is to greatly increase your Amazon's sleep time, pushing for as near 12 hours as possible. The goal here is to reset his year clock to Mid - Late Winter. Now, that means that the home is very quiet and dark during that his sleep period.

The other items (more than I listed), you will need to define and correct.
