I have 2 sun conures, their names are Tiki and Torch and a muloccan cockatoo named Maukie
Hi all, I'm going to look at a cockatoo today, the guy said she is about 6, very sweet and loving, likes to be around people, but they just don't have time for her and want a better home for her, I'm excited but nervous about it. I have read they make good pets but are very needy and destructive and loud, I asked him if we could go look at her and see how she is around us, to be honest I have never had a bird this size, I have 2 sun conures they scream alot, so the noise isn't an issue. I know a cockatoo probably isn't the first bird to get when you haven't had a large size bird, I'm just wondering what to expect with her, Im home all day, so I have time to spend with her, thanks for any input!!

Hopefully the 'too will scream while you are there so you can hear what it is really like. There is an ENORMOUS difference between the screaming of a Sun conure and a cockatoo.

Of course, cockatoos can be great pets for the right person, but they are absolutely nowhere near easy birds.

Good luck with the visit!

All the best. Cockatoos can be very loud and a greenwing even louder. It can definitely be an issue if you have small space and they can get the other birds to join as well. Having said rhat and recently finding a cockatoo that needs a home, he is sweet and funny and carries on all day
Every evening around 8 he screams for 10- 15 minutes at full volume and then quiet.

I wish you the very best..I just recently bought my U2. And not sure if she's a male or female. But she's 4 mos old and in training..So far so good lol. She has done a squawk at morning and night but not to bad and I bring her out on my times ..as what I have read is best..she's a cutie and shows me what she can do..is saying "hello" and "ok". And I'm learning on what to feed her..other than what comes in a package. So I'll have lots of questions as I go along....

God bless and hope you get a good one too

Hi, she is a moluccan cockatoo, the visit went great. we spent a couple of hours with her, I decided to get her, we go back tues or wed. to get her. I had company visiting for Thanksgiving with young children so we decided to wait til they left to get her, that way when we get her, I can spend all my time with her getting her used to things. the guy said she doesn't like being held, but she loved us petting her. she was so cute, she kept mumbling words to us, putting her head down to be petted and lifting her wing. we can't wait to get her. tll post pics when I take some after we get her home!!

Congrats... I am glad the visit went well:)

Look forward to seeing some pics.,
