Finally got around to learning how to post with Imgur. Introducing Gonzo, my first bird! Adopted from a bird store 33 years ago, he's likely about 35 or so.

No, you cannot haz my bread!

He does a bit of selected plucking on his legs and lower body. For some reason, it is highly targeted and no other locations??

Trust me, Gonzo's real weapon is that beak! He loves to fly to the shoulder and bite the jugular. That was, in fact, his first bit of aggression around age 5 or so.

Thanks all for the kind comments. He is a pretty bird!! Need to reactivate or make a new YouTube account; have many videos of his animated speech.

Hey Scott? has Gonzo always had that much blue? Does it vary between each molt?
Seems like every time Amy changes his clothes,the amount and placement of blue can vary. Sometimes very little over his noses,and a little bit on his noggin.
I think if I remember correctly (remember now,I'm old and senile..sometimes I ferget )
What was I saying now? when she..i mean HE was just a puppy,his face had all sorts of blue..Some of us humans go bald/grey..maybe BF's loose their blue lol

I know I've mentioned this before..but anywho here it is again.

When I first got Smokey,obviously she was an only bird,and I had in the back of my mind getting another. "Amazon's" in my mind were just "green" big birds.
At the time I was working for a friend,driving one of his Big Rigs and one Friday afternoon I went to his house to get paid..thats when I got introduced to Apollo..Frank's Blue Front. It was the first time I ever had an up front,in your face look at any Amazon.
Apollo was on his playtop and Frank was giving him peanut treats,as I stood back a foot or two. It was the first time I really gave a good look at a big "green" parrot lol.
Of course the first thing that hit me were those EYES Holy crap were they bright! (and flashing/pinning lol)
Every color on Apollo's face just jumped out at me,the bright yellow (Apollo's mom had just given him a shower) the blue..both those EYES holy moly lol.
But then when Apollo took flight ( Frank and Terry's livingroom was large,with high vaulted ceiling) the colors of his arms (Apollo's,NOT Franks ) and rudder were just..Amazing!

When I got home,I took out my latest edition of Bird Talk and went to the back,looking for a local breeder..and well..the rest is history
That day,Amazon's were no longer just "big green birds"
Thanks Apollo...and Frank..for introducing me to becoming a future Amazon Snob.

Like this great man I know that always says "Amazon's Rule" and "Amazon's have more fun!"

This pic* is at least 12 to 15 years old, and Gonzo's amount of blue seems greater. I wondered if it was a false color, but print shades don't change that fast. The background colors seem normal, indeed the dark purple mirror in background is the same mirror taken in the recent image on first page of this thread. So maybe he is less blue now?
