good conure cage?

I agree with starsia, but why only from Petco or Petsmart? There's lots of great cages online or on craigslist. I think Craigslist is probably the best place to buy a cage..I got my 350 dollar cage off craiglist for $120. Just be careful and wash it VERY throughly!!

Nothing different other than 2 doors on the HQ one

The bars on a finch cage are to close together, you have to remember your bird has to live in which ever cage you pick for him/her

I just bought something similar (but I think a bit bigger?) for my conures because frankly... they don't use the space of those deeper flight cages. They mostly sit in one corner or run back and forth on the ground to be let out LOL
But mine spend a large portion of the day out of their cage sitting on a rope perch on the top of their cage or flying about or using me as a play gym :)

If it is going to spend most of its life in the cage, I would get something a bit bigger just so you can put more interesting things inside it. If the bird will be out of the cage a fair bit then that cage is fine... in my humble opinion :) Mine certainly love their cage and I think they feel more secure in the smaller cage. They haven't once gone back to their old cage, they always fly back to the new little cage.

Why would they be too close together? Its the same bar spacing on the other deeper flight cages, 1/2" spacing. Mine are in a cage with 1cm spacing and are thriving.

I was told by many whole salers, running a petstore, that bars spaced for finches have the potential to cause injury. Wings may get stuck in the bars and break, as well as feet. Who knows if this is right or not, but I personally am not willing to chance it with my bird. And why would you want to buy the cheapest cage you can? why not buy what you can afford and save yourself some money in the long run? If you are trying to save yourself some money on the whole setup, maybe look for a used cage or a rehomed bird with a cage. Mine was a rehomed bird came with a good cage. I didnt mean to come off rude, which I think some of you feel I have. Dont be in a rush to pick something up, keep an eye out and youll find the great deal and proper cage you are looking for. Used isnt a bad word.

Both those cages look good, and are under $200, very rare to find cages that size here for under $400

I didn't think you were being rude :) I just wanted to know your reasoning.

The difference between 1/2" and 5/8" is 3mm... and depending on whether the manufacturer is measuring from the center of the bar or the actual space between the bars the gap may end up being exactly the same!
When you put aside the manufacturers ridiculous way of measuring by fractions instead of actual measurements, 1/2" is 13mm and 5/8" is 16mm.

Such small bar spacing would be important for a much larger bird with a thick wing or foot size. Obviously a cockatoo in 1/2" cage spacing could be an issue. GCC have pretty thin wings and small feet. The only way to completely avoid any type of injury to wings would be to have mesh rather than bars. I mean a wing can go through any size bar at any time and if the angle is right a break may occur.

The only problem I see with that cage is it has no seed catcher/tray/grate/skirt. You NEED a seed skirt, these birds are so messy! Unless you are happy to sweep and mop twice a day and scrub the walls :p Which is what I do. But mine fly freely around the house during the day so I have to regularly mop up poop anyway.

I didn't get my cage because it was cheap... I got mine because it was the most appropriate cage I could find. :)
The bottom space on the large flight cage is not only not used, but provides extra opportunity for food to be thrown out onto the floor and room for clumsy over excited conures to fall. This size cage is also easier for me to move around and clean which is vitally important with GCC because they are very messy for their size. The larger flight cages are awkward to move off their stand to clean thoroughly and I can not do it alone. The bar spacing is EXACTLY the same size as the larger flight cages.
But like I said, mine are out of their cage most of the day. If this bird will be in his cage more often than not then something with a seed skirt and more room would be a good idea. Not that I think any bird should live most of its life in a cage :)

I LOVE that cage with the seed skirt which was linked, it looks ideal and a great price! I am jealous, we have so few options here in Aus. The huge cage I was going to buy my Corella is out of stock so now I have to reconsider my options! :(

Idealy a wider cage is better than taller for Green Cheeks. Both of these cages are great for your needs. I know they have already been posted from other sites but you said specifically petco or petsmart.

BTW, with a 24" x 24" cage you will run out of room very quickly with a few toys and even one bird. With a wider cage you have more top area from which to hang toys and for the bird to jump/flap from perch to perch.

ok. what is a good place to place a cage

I have mine in my Living Room by a window, so he can be in the middle of everything, and have a great view of outside.

I also suggest checking out Craigslist. I got my $500 cage for $175
