Because the egg hatched this morning. I noticed it Thursday but something about it didn't look like a normal crack. I saw the crack but couldn't really feel it. I knew it was close to hatching and decided not to interfere.

I have my first baby. 2 eggs to go. Last clutch attempt for a while. I know they need to rest after this.

Exactly 2 hours have passed. It's presumably being fed by mom because its asking for food.

Quick questions please. I looked online already and didn'tfind the answer. Do the males feed the babies too? I know they co parent but Rex( mom) was out for 4-6 hours while Jet (dad) sat with the eggs. Do parent fed babies eat less often than every 2 hours?

The second egg has hatched. I check them every day. More than once. The first baby is so big comparedto the new one. The crop fills and empties normally. So far all is well.

Well my question has been answered. I was checking on them a couple of days ago and Jet fed a baby right in front of me. All is still well with the 2 that hatched. I cleaned the box twice already. Boy are they messy. :) The third egg probably didnt make it.

Good morning and congratulations on the new arrivals.... one pending on type of birds you have some take turn nurturing the babies some are fed secondhand and the male will feed the female and she then feeds the young.... as long as they are comfortable with you cleaning and peeking frequently your fine but i would suggest leaving them be for a few days. If any eggs don't hatch i would remove them as they are no longer viable. Good luck on the new family..

They are doing well. In my thread meet the babies I have updates and pictures.
