Last night I came home, and after spending some time with him, he was clearly acting sick. He was puffing up, very lethargic, watery poop. I took him to the vet, and they kept him overnight. He started vomiting a little when we arrived (he likes the vet, so I don't think he was stressed).

This morning I recieved a phonecall that he was acting fine, and talking about what course of action to take with him (all of them included my taking him home today). I decided to do x rays (he recently had a blood panel). A little later, I got a call saying that he'd collapsed when they took him out to take the X ray. They put him on oxygen, and he started to come around a bit, but then he collapsed again, and they weren't able to bring him back. The vet thinks that he probably had a congenital liver problem that we didn't know about.

He was an amazing bird. I had just gotten him last August from a lady who wasn't able to take care of him anymore. He was friendly and out going, loving (almost) everybody. He made up his own songs. When I kissed my boyfriend, he would make kisses too, and usually wanted to join in. He loved to snuggle in my pajamas at night. I took him lots of places with me, and when it wasn't a pet-friendly place, I put him in my sweater or under a scarf, and he would stay there (well, most of the time). When he did come out of my sweater at the grocery store, everybody was happy to see him. He was very strong-willed, and very good at communicating his wants and needs.

My boyfriend and another friend suggested having a little service for him. I think it sounds good. I feel like he was my baby, even though he was a bird. I've opted to have him cremated. I'm not sure if I'm going to find him an urn, or if I'm going to scatter his ashes somewhere. He loved so many different places, that it's hard to decide on a particular place.

I took the day off work today, and I can't seem to stop crying for very long. I miss him so much.

I am so sorry to hear about Puck :( You did everything you could for him, and he went knowing he was well loved.

Thank you guys.

I rubbed raspberries on him for Halloween. I thought it was appropriate.

Last night all Puck wanted to do was snuggle in my sweater, even at the vet's office. (this picture isn't from last night)

I'll try to post some more pictures of him soon.

So sorry for your sad loss. Puck was obviously much loved and was well cared for.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Unsure why but the loss of Puck is bothering me more than most. I can't begin to imagine how your heart aches now. Good luck!

When I scrolled down the front page and saw this thread title, my heart skipped a beat...
No way, not that handsome little guy Puck.

My thoughts go out to you.

I am so deeply sorry for your loss, my thoughts and prayers are with you. I was shocked when I found out. He was very loved by the forum and will always be remembered. He crossed over the rainbow bridge :0).

I am so very very sorry for your loss. Big hugs to you!

I'm so deeply sorry for your loss, he will be sorely missed.

I think scattering his ashes around in his favorite places is a great idea.

I am so very sorry for your loss. Puck was special.

I am SO SORRY! :(:(:(:(:( I stood staring at the title for a good five minutes; I wanted to cry! Puck will be missed by everyone here!

I'm so sorry for your loss...I don't post often but I follow the treads and remember many that you posted about him. Its obvious that he well loved and cared for.

I cannot believe this! I am so sorry for your loss, I know how special puck was to you and your family. I think it is a wonderful idea to have a service and if others think that's "silly" then they obviously don't understand the kind of bond you had with your sweet little guy.

As soon as I read this I told my SO(who's not even a forum member) and he got so upset. He loves and has always wanted a caique so everytime you would post pictures or stories about puck(here and on facebook) I would always share them with him so he had gotten to "know"(or should I say know of) puck quite well. We will both be keeping you and your family in our thoughts. I just can't believe he's gone :( I thought for sure with all of the treatment you had been going through with him that they would be able to help him recover. It's just so sad :(

Im so sorry to hear about Puck. I always loved reading your posts about him, it was obvious that he is very very much loved.
