Green cheek conure
Hi everyone! we brought home a second green cheek conure who is 9 weeks old. Our 1 year old green cheek conure that we have had for the past year keeps preening the baby and keeps locking beaks sideways with the baby and shaking its head up and down really fast. I was wondering if this is considered aggressive behavior and if I should be worried?

I have them in separate cages and have allowed them to slowly meet each other while being supervised. They donā€™t seem too interested in each other, they interact a bit (the older one starts preening the baby and doing the beak locking thing I mentioned) and then they both just kind of do their own thing.

Is it possible that your older conure is regurgitating for the baby?
I'd keep a really close eye on their interactions until the baby is older. At this point he can't defend himself very well and could get hurt easily.

I'd love to see pictures of your birds:)

Hi! Thank you for your reply

the motion does kinda look like regurgitation but it doesnā€™t seem like anything is coming out.

And yes, we will definitely only let them interact while supervised and hopefully when the baby gets older they can be besties

And here are some pics of my babies, the baby yellow sided is Marley and the older one is Pnut :)they are both so lovely. Pnut actually knows how to say a few things and hopefully Marley will learn too

Oh my gosh, Marley & Pnut are both so pretty! It really does sound like Pnut may be trying to regurgitate, I think that they are already on their way to a beautiful friendship:)
