At work: Rio- Hyacinth macaw, Major- Major Mitchell's cockatoo, Fruit Loop- Keel-billed toucan, Bayju- Black palm cockatoo
So I haven't shared much about handsome Major. He is my very fearful, shy, but so sweet boy that was (from what I was told) traumatized by an ex employee. Nobody else ever really worked with him as he was kinda seen as a lost cause and he really is the most fearful bird I have ever met. But since I became responsible for him, I've been doing several short training sessions everyday for the past few months and am SOOO proud to announce, or rather show...
He's finally stepped up for me!
And he'll let me hand feed him from inside his aviary now, will preen my hair from outside and was showing off tonight
Baby steps, but I am so excited to see this progress with him and hope it will encourage the other employees to follow suit with the birds at their locations.
As for Mr. Bayju, I had to enlist some men that work in the store to help put up yet some more perches! He's so beautiful and lovable though I can't help but laugh. Here's the big stinker clinging on to a chunk of his prize.
He is my incredibly gentle, loving lap bird at work and will stay like this all day if I let him.
