Pineapple Green Cheek Conure
Hi I've just brought home about 4 days ago a very cute pineapple GCC. He is still being weened by us but is doing brilliantly. We bought a huge cage with one of those toy gyms on top, but because he is still a baby we have him in a small plastic tub at the moment with a snugly bed in the corner. He will snuggle in there when he is tired. Funny thing is he or she has never pooped on us once! Gypsy (that's his/her name) will do his little chirpy baby noise whilst sitting with us contently but if he starts to get louder (and we know he has already been fed) we take him to his cage or box and say go potty and he will do his little back up dance lift his tail and poop! After he eats as well we take him to his cage and say go potty and he does. It's amazing at just 7 weeks old. Has anyone else had this luck? Or will it change when he is older and eating more?

No, keep at it and he will go to his potty place when needed.

Try getting a wide base dog dish and call it his potty. He will be able to stand on the edge.

Soon he will know where to go!

What breeder did you get him from?

Wow! My GCC doesn't do that and she's older than Gypsy! I wonder if its too late? I will try! :D

Echo I am in Australia. But he breeds conures and scaley breasted parrots.
Potty training update.... I went a bought a bird tent and he now sleeps in that in his big cage. I also removed the tray that he was pooping on and bought (as captsteve suggested) a dog bowl and put the litter in that. So hence his litter area is now reduced to this area. I put him in the dish and say go potty and he will back up to the edge of the dish and poop into the bottom of the cage. So not really in the bowl but still works. It is still okay as all the poo falls through the grate into the bottom tray rather than in the dish. He is amazing, never pooped on anything or anyone other than his cage. I take him after he wakes up and put him in the dish and say go potty. If he does it I give him a click with the clicker and he gets to come and play (this is his treat, as he isn't eating sunflower seeds etc yet). He also lets me know that he doesn't need to go as he will jump over to the cage door. If anyone can tell me how to post a pic I can show you the setup.

In the post reply box there is a paper clip in the top row, click it and browse for pics!

Kiwi was just like that when I took her home! She hasn't gone potty on me once, but she will go on the couch..or floor..or countertop..or my keyboard >.<

I bought this for her to use as a potty. I offer it to her every 10/15 minutes. I Love it because its portable and you can configure it so its taller, or you can just carry it around by the handle. Real easy to clean too!

That looks great, but my bird likes to back up (or take a few steps back) and find a ledge. Worth giving it a go though. Will check it out. Thanks.

Mine rarely poops on me, although she spends a lot of time on my shoulder. Somehow she's learned to poop in her cage before she comes out. I think they naturally poop when they're getting ready to fly, so if you praise them they can catch on pretty quicly when you'd like them to poop.
