Hi All. I was preening my Green Cheek today and noticed that one of her nostrils is plugged. It's not running or anything but just plugged. She's acting as her normal self should I be concerned?
Plugged in what way? Can you take a picture? It could be a little feather or something stuck inside. Gently run your nail over her nostril and see if it comes out. My GCC used to get little pieces of her new feather's keratin coating in her nose when she was molting but it came out pretty quickly after she sat picking it with her toenail.
They're usually pretty good about sneezing stuff out, or picking their nose!
If it's not gone in a day or so or starts to get irritated or runny, definitely take her to the vet asap.
It doesn't look like a feather but is the same color as her nostril. It's probably nothing but you're right in that if it looks runny tonight or tomorrow I'll take her to the vet. She's flying around happy as can be and eating normal...

Birds are experts at hiding illness. My Koa had the tiniest glisten of moisture in his nostril so we rushed him to the vet, and he died on the table. Please at least post a picture so we can help you determine if it is normal. Otherwise please go straight to an avian certified veterinarian.
My Amazon gets that all the time. My vet told me it was fine. I've tried moist cotton swabs but he doesn't let me work at it long. As long as your bird is breathing okay.
Thanks All! I'm going to watch it. Unfortunately I don't have anyway of uploading a pic right now. I can't get her to stay still long enough. I tried several times. I looked at her with a magnifying glass and that was hard enough trying to take a look as she was on the run. I can see that for the most part her nostril is open but has some thing blocking but it's the same color as the nostril. It does look like she has cleared some of it. I lost my Jenday in January and know all to well that they can hide illness. I'll look at it again in the morning and let ya'll know what I see. Thank you all!!
