I have taken in a conure from a friend who could no longer care for him... well they were not so knowledgeable on birds and bird health so he is a avid seed junkie. I'm trying to convert him to pellets so yesterday I took out his nutriberries and pellet berries (his current diet) and left in his a cage just a tiny amount of regular pellets and some scrambled egg (he is molting quite a bit, his whole neck is covered in pin feathers) and mango. I didn't realize how late the time was so I had to rush to work. I asked my mom to put his nutriberries back if he didn't eat anything in a couple hours. Instead I came home and the mango, eggs, and small amount of pellets had vanished and there was some half-eaten watermelon clipped to the side of his cage. My mother for whatever reason things she knows what's best for the bird and decided he didn't need the nutriberries and instead needed more fruit. So basically yesterday all he had was fruit, egg and a very tiny amount of pellets. (I put the nutriberries back but he was full from the watermelon)

Anyways in the morning he always lets out a HUGE poop when I first take him out, and what came out kind of scared me.... I expected it to be watery but to me this looks like more than just watery. Here is a picture:

And then about 2 hours later there was this:

I'm very worried. :( Please let me know if this is just watery or if its diarrhea or something else.

It looks perfectly fine to me, it's probably so watery from the amount of fruit you gave him that he's not used to. That plus drinking water, and also being the first poop of the day will always be larger in volume.

It will fluctuate a little bit as you're changing the diet but should become consistent again, someone might have the link to the birdie poop chart.

I don't see anything abnormal in the poop. The first one (the morning-gigantum poop) look fine for a bird that had a good amount of fruits the day before. :)

The second poop must be the Nutriberries?

I'd only be concerned it you see your GCC pooping undigested particles.

Thank goodness! I had cockatiels before and when their poop was watery it was nothing like that, I guess that's why I panicked. If someone could find the chart that would be great! :D

That's a relief! Thank you!

Looks like perfectly normal GCC poo to me.

I know how you feel. When I first had Kyo I was always panicking about her poop being runny compared to my tiels and budgies. It's just something you get used to :P I even took her poop in to the vet with me and the vet was like "um... I can test it for you and charge you, but honestly that just looks like normal conure poop to me." which was pretty embarrassing.

That looks normal! GCC's tend to have huge morning poops because they hold it all night.
