GreenPan - Safe or Not

I know that it is dangerous to use certain cookware around parrots because of the fumes that they put off at high heat. I would like to start replacing all of my cookware to something that is more bird safe but wanted some feed back before I make this expensive decision ....
I know that all teflon and non-stick cookware is a definite no but what about - --stainless steel ... does it have to have a certain ratio to be safe...
- ceramic...
- glass ...
- silicone ...

What do you guys use...
Also has anyone heard of or used GreenPan products around their birds... Do you have an opinion about whether it is good or not ... if it holds up well ect

I don't use non stick lol I use aluminum pans with a smooth flat black coating. I use a little butter or Pam to keep food from sticking

I use stainless steel pots and pans, ceramic and glass cookware, crock pots, and cast iron is good too (but I don't have one of those yet)

Last year there were a number of manufacturers who were touting "green pans" an idea rather than a specific brand...they were safe for the environment & safe for human use as they were either stainless or ceramic coated, so I did some research & bought 3 different sized frying pans/skillets, leaving the stainless pots & put away the cast iron as we don't use it very often.....I'm not a big cornbread eater & the stainless cooks beans & mashed potatoes just as good.....

Just like the Teflon pans, you don't want to use metal utensils with them as the ceramic coating can get chipped & damaged, but other than being careful with the pans, I like the way they cook.....

I was given a silicone baking dish, but have never used it & I've used glass cookware/bake-ware/Corningware since I was in high school, so got a few pieces of that around too.....


When I first got out on my own, in college, I picked up a couple of pieces of cast iron cookware, but knew nothing about seasoning cast iron, so I cooked up some scrambled eggs one morning, after a hard night before & it was not St. Patrick's Day.....they also had a strong taste of iron.....ended up being a reaction between the "green" unseasoned iron skillet & the whites of the eggs.....even those green eggs were alright to eat.....

I think I've seen what you mean. I've seen Greenpan being sold in a few supermarkets.

That's the uk site anyways. I think they use a a coating called thermolon, no pfte or pfoa. Its relatively new though, so not much is known from what I can see. Feel free for anyone to correct me.
They doesn't seem bad but I've finally found a good priced ceramic frying pan that I'll probably go for. Cheaper than Greenpan.
Still looking out for a wok though.

I use one.. No problems, but I never cook on hi heat

Well we have a carbon steel pan. I think but we aren't sure on the nonstick coating part. It's silvery on the outside but black ish on the inside, very light weight.
Boyfriend got it cheap from his work before we started looking into birds so we don't have the box any more and the product became discontinued... Thus looking for a new wok.
