I was just wondering if birds can have "good moods" and "bad moods". I ask this because earlier I had Mave out and he was fine with me, playing and using me as a jungle gym. THEN my boyfriend came home and we went back in the room. I took him out again and all he wanted to do was bite me, and HARD. He actually drew blood! I was so shocked! literally 30 minutes before he was fine..is this something that happens or is Mave just an anomaly? :o

Sounds about right for a GCC, mine does that sometimes too. I think they are a little bi- polar sometimes ...lol
But all there cuteness makes up for the moodiness : )

Well I'm glad it's not just me! haha. I can handle slight bi-polar tendancies if they are semi-normal. Otherwise I was like OH NO! I offended Mave somehow! Yikes!

It isn't just you.....green cheeks moods recycle daily several times a day.
That is just the way they are. Sweet as pie and then you become a chew stick .......or worse. LOL

lol green cheek conures are so cute....too cute...you can see the evil in their eyes :D

Ours is the same, although when he gets nippy it tends to mean:

1) Play with me, I did not come out to merely sit on you.
2) Shouldn't you be feeding me about now?
3) I am tired; you must pay.

I'd say this is exactly spot on! :D
Do your best to constantly keep learning your GCC's body language.
Also learning to divert your GCC's attention to something of your choice is a great skill to have.

3) I am tired; you must pay.
This one is very easy to deal with - Just dim the lights and your GCC's mood will switch from nipping machine to snuggle bug within seconds. Try it for yourself!

Lol aye, thankfully it takes seconds to calm down once it get dark. If I'm not planning to go to bed until late, I'll watch something subtitled, with the volume way down.

Rosie my galah totally has moody days, yesterday I took Rosie out and about and she would get all excite to meet people and show off but if the tried to touch her she tried to bite them. I accidentally woke her up in the middle of the night and she was fine with showing off but not at all feeling like being pet by anyone other then me. She also has her good and bad days, her hormonal days, and her super happy, and her normal days. all birds are like this and it just adds to how unique and intelligent they are because we all have those days two.

Codie has mood swings! One day she will happily play with her toys on her stand and chat away all day, then another day, she will throw everything with a vengeance, or she will throw all her food on the floor and then look at me, as if to say " what are you going to do about that" LOL
They can be like young Children at times.. Very Stroppy :11:

Whew! I'm glad I'm not alone. It is so interesting how intelligent they can be. In a way it's slightly intimidating! Gotta love 'em though because they are just too cute not to love! :)

I was also going to say that he may have been a tad hungry when this happened...even though I had fed him a little while before going back in to play and he wasn't near his food when we went in to see him, he may have just wanted to go back to snacking. He seemed pretty happy to be put right back in his cage, which is usually a battle if he is in a good mood. Silly bird.
