I hand raised my cockatiel and even though he wasn't the cuddliest he used to let me pet him. Now he is about a year old (i don't know his exact hatch day) and he is bluffing? Like he asks for pets, but sometimes he will start biting at my thumb and finger out of nowhere (this doesn't hurt is more of an open beak impact that he repeats while making some noise). Any tips, help, or tricks to bring back my more tame cockatiel? Will this end on its own?

PD. I will try to get a video of the behaviour

Honestly this is pretty typical cockatiel behavior in my experience. They are just pretty dramatic sometimes. Shrug. They usually don't actually bite, just squeal in rage and bop your hands or ear or whatever for a bit and then go back to asking for scratchies. Shrug, cockatiels are weird lol

hahaha! Really? Then I guess I will just have to brush it off. I was here thinking that he hated me.

Lol one of mine has been doing it to me for over 18 years and he is a total momma's boy deep down.

That behavior typically. My cockatiels do that once in a while.

Yes. very typical. Our female Auzzie will bow her head lower than the others for scratches and absolutely loves it....until she's done. Then she will scream bloody murder and bite (almost a nibble) very fast. I guess that's her way of saying she's done! LOL!

Yep I agree with all of the above..my little guy is very bonded to me but does the same thing..
