Green cheeked conure
Hi
I was wondering if anyone can offer any suggestions. We have a baby green cheeked conure who is 7 weeks old. he is absolutely wonderful but I really don't want him to sit on my head all the time. I am more than happy for him to sit on my shoulders but I don't want poop on my head all the time.
I would be very grateful for any help.

Cheers Jackie.

I don't allow my yellow sided on my head or shoulder because it allows me to be vulnerable.. hes not a biter. He's 9 months old and still nips out of curiosity..I trained him to not run up my arm by simply recognizing his body language. I was able to anticipate when he was going to run up and distracted him by giving him repeated step up commands "laddering him"..so i simply gave him something else to do..and now he doesn't run up anyone's arms.

You've got to show them your displeasure with the head perching.....sorry, but just like human kids, they have to be taught.....it may take a few times, but if you keep taking the bird off your head, with a stern no & putting it back in it's cage, it often doesn't very many times for them to catch on.....

Teach him not to poo on you, anywhere! It's totally possible, especially that he is so young. :) I taught my gcc not to poo on me, and I never worry when he sits on my head. :) Some parrots naturally don't poo on people like my lovebird and cockatiel, but some need to be taught. It took my new IRN baby a few dirty looks and a bit scolding to understand that I was not happy with him pooing on me, and he stopped doing it very quickly. :)

Potty training is a very good idea.

As for not sitting you your head, I don't allow it in my house because. Don't like it, and because I find it freaked my guests out when birds land on their heads. When a bird lands on my head, I say "no" and move them to my shoulder (or wherever you want them to go). If they continue to do this, I say "no" again, and put them back in the cage. It doesn't take long for them to learn if you are 100% consistent. This means doing the same thing when they land on other people's heads as well.
