Just joined this site. I adopted a (just turned) 4 year old green cheek conure rescue about a month ago. She had issues such as biting, screaming, and fairly severe plucking.
I can happily say she's very happy now, gets tons of love and attention. She never bites....I even trust her to groom my lips! The plucking has stopped and her feathers are growing back...she had plucked everything bare except for her head, neck, lower wings, and tail. Now she's covered with down and her outer feathers are beginning to "pin" thru.
She still grooms excessively in my opinion, but it's getting better. At least she stopped pulling.
Anyway, that's my situation. Her name is Nikka (pronounced "neeka") and I'm absolutely wild about this bird!
