Sun Conure
Hi everyone, im new here. Ive been looking for somewhere to get some advise and help, this place looks brill ! I/ we have a female Sun Conure, her name is Flame ( not my choice !) She is around 20yrs old. She is my partners but, due to his work hours im the one mostly at home with her. Im hoping to get some help with training her, if shes not too old lol ! She is quite happy to come out and she sits on my shoulder while i do the washing up, the post man thinks it hillarious when he walks past the kitchen window !! She gives me kisses by pushing her head against my cheek. Im trying to teach her the step up command, but once she is on my shoulder i cant get her back on my hand, so i would like to get some help with that!

Hello again, i look forward to getting to know you all and your birdie babys
:-)

Hey there!!!! Sun conures are my favorite conures and they're so, so beautiful! :D I think you'll enjoy it here on the forums. :orange: oh and hello to Flame, too! :D

Thank you Crazy and Christinenc2000 :-)
Its taken me a while to earn her trust but we are getting there lol Id love for her to be able to be outside of her cage for a while, on perch with a few of her toys etc. I would also love to get her to eat more freash friut and veg, she runs a mile with anything new lol

Recently i have found her fav treat is a Cherio. She doesnt have many i try to use them for training but she only has 2 that are broken into pieces. I sat next to her eating a bow of them and she got so inquisitive with what i was eating, she came down to investigate. Now she loves them.

:-)

I too have been trying to introduce my cockatiel to healthier foods. I introduced him to apple and he seemed to like that but he's being a bit stubborn hehe. How long have you guys had her for?

Flame adores apple but she doesn't seem to want to try anything else! My partner has had her since she was about 12 I think ,although we believe she was older at the time. I've spent the past 5 yrs earning her trust and it's not been easy! Other than me, she doesn't seem to like women lol. :-)

Hello and welcome! Flame is beautiful:) So glad you joined us!

Hello there! A warm welcome to you and Flame!

Hello and welcome. Don't let her on your shoulder if she is not stepping up reliably. Shoulders are for privileged and well behaved birdies. Work on stepping up until she is a master at it. Keep her on your hand or a play gym/training perch nearby. This way she can still hang out with you until she is stepping up every time. Then she can be a shoulder bird again. :)

Thank you Terry57, Allee and Anne333 for the warm welcome. She's has just had a bath in the picture so she's not looking her best lol. I would love to have her sat on a perch/gym with me. She wont go near anything new. I bought another pearch to have on the outside of her cage, but she would go near it so its now inside her cage, ive never seen her on it.
