Introducing myself and my two babies (even though one is not so young anymore!)
I have the best little cockatiel named Sydney who I've had since he was weaned and has now just turned 10 years old! He loves cheek and head scritches, as well as just sitting calmly on mine or my husband's shoulder for hours on end. He doesn't play much - the only toy he likes is his bell before bed time, and my phone and laptop keys if he sees that I'm using it. He loves peas, corn, rice, scrambled egg and broccoli, as well as any kind of crunchy cracker type food as a treat. He is so gentle and kind and I love him
My brand new baby, who I've had for a week now, is 11 weeks old and is still unnamed because my husband and I can't agree on a name! (I want to name him Chandler, but he likes Pinot - even though I'm the wine-drinker :09. He is a GCC and is absolutely NOT shy. The reason why we liked him so much was because he always came to us. He always wants to come out of his cage, and he never stops moving. He loves anything new and has already shredded his one wooden toy after less than a week. He's the reason why I'm joining this forum because he is nippy i.e. pinching my fingers and not letting go. I've read the two recommended forum posts on bonding and how to avoid biting which have been helpful, but I still need to learn why he is biting (or nipping?). So likely you'll see me in the conure forum shortly. But when he's not pinching he loves to snuggle
It will be great to join the forum, I love my babies and I'm sure I will gain a ton of information that will help me understand them even more. I'm going to try and add some pictures here, hopefully they work. My cockatiel loves the camera, whereas my GCC never actually stays still long enough for a photo!
