Hey everyone! I’ve used this site most every day for years, and I finally realized I should just join you wonderful folks

First of all, I just wanna thank you all, this forum and all of your collective knowledge and ideas have guided and assisted me for years, so I am grateful to you and excited to get to know more about all of you!

My name is Brian, I’m from NYS and am blessed to share my life with a menagerie of furry and feathered friends! I’m 19 years old and I run a small animal sanctuary, specializing in birds. I received my first little pal Ozzie, my sun conure, when I was 12 years old. He’s been the light of my life ever since.
He was given to me by a local breeder after his parents rejected him from the nest, so when we first met he was still a little featherless alien bird and required round the clock hand feedings. Thankfully, he’s now a very sweet and handsome little 7 year old. I call him my shadow because he’s never not climbing on my head, on my shoulder, and following me everywhere I go!

Then Last year I took in an abandoned 2 year old Ruby macaw, who of course had already been named Ruby (real original i know). But since she already introduces herself to everyone by saying “Hi I Ruby! What’s your name?” It had to stick :)
They’re certainly a handful, and screeching at me for not paying attention to them right now, but I love em nonetheless!
I live alone, so I have converted my home into one humongous bird room and keep them uncaged 24/7, they get along wonderfully despite the size difference, and running a sanctuary allows me to be home with them nearly constantly. They’re both flighted and trained for outdoor free flight as well (Oz even flies alongside my bike - cant get away from him if i try!)

I’m also a Certified Parrot Behavioral Consultant, as well as a student, majoring in Ornithology and Animal Cognition (big shocker eh?)

Along with Oz and Ruby I also have 26 chickens, 4 ducks, 2 geese, 2 king quail, 3 bunnies, and 2 dogs - so its certainly an active household!

I’m sorry if this was a long post, just thrilled to be part of the community, excited to learn more from all of you, and hoping I’ll be able to be of service to you all :)

Thanks for having me!

Thank you for introducing yourself and your 'tribe' Brian. I'd say welcome as a new member but it appears that you've been a 'silent' member for a very long time. That is great.

I'm very impressed by your accomplishments and accepted responsibilities at such a young age. I look forward to learning heaps from you. Welcome aboard Mate!

Welcome. You're our kind of folks. Flock!

Welcome aboard Brian, thanks for a spectacular introduction. We're thrilled you've joined!

You're impeccably prepared as savior to animals of so varied species. Most impressive is your age and drive. We'll all benefit from your membership and participation! Oh, and we love pics!!
